Heart vs Mind: The Battles Between Feeling and Thinking

Inside each of us lives a quiet warNot between good and evil, but between feeling and thinking , the HEART and the MIND. One is filled with passion, dreams, and and deep feelings. The other thinks carefully, plans head, and protects. And in between we are stuck and unsure which one to listen to.

The Mind: The Overprotective Guardian

The mind wants to help us. It wants to keep us safe from pain, embarrassment, failure, heartbreak. It replays old memories like warning signs and future-scans every possible outcome before we take a single step.

But in trying to protect, the mind often ends up controlling.

It talks over the heart. It demands logic where there is only longing. It cages the very parts of us that feel most alive.

Sometimes the mind takes over too much, it stops us from listening to our hearts
It says things like:
Be smart
Don’t get too emotional.
Feelings are dangerous.

So we hold back and we stop trusting ourselves.

The Heart: The Honest and Emotional

The heart does not think in logic. It speaks through feelings, gut instincts, and dreams. It wants what feels real and true, even if it does not make sense.

When we ignore the heart, it starts to hurt.  It becomes quiet, then heavy, and finally, we stop feeling much at all.

We say we have moved on, but really, we have just shut down. We stop dreaming.

The Real Battle

The real problem is not that the heart and mind fight it’s that we think one has to win. We feel like we must choose

Either follow the heart and live wild and free, or follow the mind and play it safe. But maybe life is not about choosing one. Maybe it’s about balance.

What if the mind gave advice but did not take full control?

What if the heart led the way, but the mind helped like a guide not a boss.

How to make peace between your Heart and Mind

  • Listen to both: When you need to make a decision, don’t just think about it also ask yourself how it makes you feel.
  • Notice the pattern: Does your mind always stop you from doing things? Is your heart always get hurt? Paying attention is the first step.
  • Let them talk: Try journaling as a conversation between your heart and mind, you might learn something new.
  • Allow imperfection: Not every feeling needs to make sense. Not every thought needs emotion. Let them both be there.

Final Thoughts

The heart and mind are not fighting against each other. They are both part of you and trying to help you.

You don’t have to silence or choose either,  You just have to listen to both. Because, between feeling and thinking there is you.
